70-Year-Old Driver Dead After Crash with Dump Truck in Niagara County

A tragic collision between a dump truck and a Honda Civic claimed the life of a 70-year-old driver on Wednesday afternoon, according to the New York State Police. The incident occurred at the intersection of Beattie Avenue and Hamm Road around 1:15pm.

The driver, identified as Laurie J. Wright of Lockport, was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Honda Civic, driven by Wright, failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn onto Beattie Avenue. It was at this moment that the vehicle was struck by the dump truck resulting in the devastating outcome.

Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of the collision. Sadly, they were unable to save Wright's life. The operator of the dump truck escaped the incident without any injuries.

The New York State Police have launched an investigation into the crash to determine the exact circumstances and factors that led to the collision. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information related to the crash to contact them.
