Authorities have released the identity of the man killed in a shooting outside the Amazon Fulfillment Center on Manitou Road in Gates Thursday night.

According to police, 24-year-old Markis Ortiz Harris of Rochester was inside his car waiting for his shift to begin at the ROC1 facility when he was approached and shot by a suspect.

Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to reports of an active shooter at the warehouse around 5:45pm. Ortiz-Harris, an Amazon employee, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

As of this writing, the suspect has not been found. Police believe the shooting was not random and was a targeted attack.

"I don't believe there's any risk to the community," said Captain Matthew Pascarella from the Gates Police Department said. "From what we understand, witnesses said there was some type of verbal argument between parties before shots were fired, which leads us to believe that it was targeted and isolated to that incident."

The investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call 911 or contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at (585) 423-9300.
