Border Patrol Requested by Niagara Falls Police During Traffic Stop for Suspected Illegal

Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol around 1:15pm on July 22nd in the area of Niagara Falls Boulevard when the license plate reader altered that the New York Registration on a while 2019 Ford Transit van truck showed suspended as of July 6th, 2025, due to an insurance lapse.
Officers initiated a traffic stop at that location and made contact with a Hispanic driver.
The driver didn’t speak English and utilized his cell phone to communicate with officers.
The driver was advised that the vehicle had a suspended registration. He handed them a New York State driver’s license to identify himself.
The driver said that he has lived in America for approx. 4 years. U.S. Border Patrol was contacted to assist in communication and to verify citizenship.
Officers checked the driver’s license status with the DMV which showed it was suspended as of 1/31/2025 for failure to appear with 3 total scoffs on two different dates.
Border patrol arrived on scene and verified the driver’s citizenship status.
A tow was requested and Military towing took possession of the vehicle.
The driver was issued several UTTs and then released on scene. No further information is available at this time.
