Loren Carriere, the executive director of Hope for Opelousas, has been overwhelmed by the response.

"At about 5:30 p.m. [Wednesday], I started receiving emails. The donations just kept pouring in," Carriere shared.

Bills Mafia, known for their passionate support, has rallied behind the cause resulting in over 300 donations from Western New York totaling more than $3,500. Additionally, a generous donor in Louisiana has pledged to match donations up to $50,000.

As the donations poured in, Carriere took the time to personally connect with the donors.

"We're a small organization, so I reached out to individuals who left their phone numbers. I had some incredible conversations with people," Carriere expressed.

The genuine and down-to-earth nature of the Buffalo community resonated with Carriere, as it reminded him of the spirit of Opelousas.

In a remarkable update on Friday morning, Hope for Opelousas announced that the donations had surpassed $160,000. The organization currently supports 100 students daily providing academic assistance, mentorship, and a safe and enjoyable environment. Coleman, who himself benefited from this program while growing up, has been actively promoting the cause through various messages.

When asked about Coleman's character, Carriere responded, "What you witnessed [Saturday] is just a typical day for Keon. He will continue to be himself, show his true colors, and enjoy the process."

Carriere emphasized that all the proceeds would be utilized to expand the program, enabling them to assist more children who share similar backgrounds to Coleman.

"We deeply appreciate and thank you for your support, and we eagerly anticipate building a brighter future together."
