Cross-Border Rally in Niagara Falls Shows Support for Palestinians

Hundreds Rally for Palestinians on Both Sides of Canada-U.S. Border in Niagara Falls

In a powerful display of solidarity, hundreds of people gathered on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border in Niagara Falls to rally for Palestinians. The goal of July 21's rally was to show support and stand in solidarity with Palestinians globally. Organized by the Niagara Palestine Coalition, the rally aimed to empower the Palestinian community and encourage them to embrace their identity without fear.

Gabriel Gebril, spokesperson for the coalition and a Palestinian resident of St. Catharines, Ontario, emphasized the importance of letting Palestinians know that they are not alone and that others have their backs. Up to 2,000 people joined the rally in Niagara Falls (ON) marching from Stanley Avenue and Highway 420 to the border. The demonstration aimed to express solidarity with Palestinians locally and abroad as the Israel-Hamas conflict continues to escalate.

The war in Gaza has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis with over 38,600 lives lost and widespread displacement and hunger. The rally participants aimed to raise awareness about the ongoing atrocities and urge action to address the situation. The Niagara Regional Police Service monitored the event to ensure the safety of participants and the community. The rally drew attendees from across the area with demonstrators from as far as Montreal joining the cause.

On the American side of the border, a group gathered at Prospect Point in Niagara Falls State Park to show their support. Despite the ongoing conflict, organizers clarified that the rally's purpose was not to convince elected officials to act. Instead, the focus was on providing solidarity and support to Palestinians during this challenging time.
