Cave of the Winds

About:

The Cave of the Winds, despite its name, isn't actually a cave. Instead, it’s a wooden walkway leading visitors closer to the majestic Niagara Falls. Named after the natural cave that once stood behind the Bridal Veil Falls, this attraction continues to offer an incredible, close-up view of the falls. The current walkway provides an impressive view and intense feeling of the forces of nature, allowing visitors to walk within a few feet of the cascading water.

Short of going over the falls in a barrel there are fewer places closer to the action than the series of walkways. Located on Goat Island, this journey begins with an elevator ride 175 feet down into the Niagara Gorge. A network of walkways and stairs leads to the 'Hurricane Deck' where visitors are treated to tropical storm-like conditions due to the spray from the falls.
