The Rainbow Mall is an iconic piece of history that bears witness to the evolution of the beautiful city it resided in. By the early 2000s, it became evident that Rainbow Mall's golden age had passed. The management attempted to inject life back into the mall by renovating it and bringing in new tenants. Despite these efforts, Rainbow Mall closed in 2000.
After years of vacancy and neglect, the site of the once bustling Rainbow Mall began its next chapter with the construction of the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute which encompasses nearly 1/3 of the former site. Despite the mall's closure, it will forever be remembered for its contributions to the vibrancy and spirit of downtown Niagara Falls. While the Rainbow Mall may now be a memory, its history remains embedded in the fabric of Niagara Falls, serving as a symbol of the city's resilience and capacity for change.
