After further surveillance of the male, it was clear the object inside of the pocket was a handgun. The two males observed the patrol vehicle and attempted to evade by walking across the street and into a store. Shortly after, the males exited the building but the object in the hoodie was now gone. Instead, the male was now walking with a limp as if he had shoved an object down his pants.

Police pulled up next to the males, got out of the vehicle and attempted to speak with them. As an officer spoke to the one wearing the black hoodie, he made a quick movement towards the street in an attempt to run away. The officer grabbed the male and wrapped his arms around him. At this time the male attempted to flee again, breaking away from the officer’s grip.

The male started reaching for his waistband attempting to grab something in his groin area. In the struggle, officer(s) pulled down his belt line and noticed the butt end of a tan handgun. The firearm was removed and male secured with assistance of other officers.

The firearm was inspected by Niagara Falls Police and found to be an unloaded, fake imitation firearm.

The male was placed under arrest and charged with criminal possession of a weapon 4th, resisting arrest and jaywalking. He was released on an appearance ticket.
