A daytime immigration enforcement action in a quiet North Buffalo neighborhood has drawn strong backlash from residents after federal agents detained four individuals working on a home roofing project.
On May 12th, Crescent Avenue in the Parkside neighborhood became the scene of a controversial Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation. According to multiple neighborhood witnesses, federal agents approached a residential property where roofing work was being conducted and apprehended four individuals during their lunch break.
Neighbors reported a noticeable law enforcement presence with several armed agents visible in the area. The incident, which unfolded near local schools and family homes, prompted community concern and social media discussion. One resident captured images of the operation.
Residents have questioned the timing, method, and necessity of the operation.
While the identities and legal statuses of those detained have not been formally released, the homeowner alleged that the workers were properly employed and documented. However, it is unknown how the homeowner would know their immigration status, or purport to do so.
ICE has made no comment regarding the operation.
