Inmate Lunges for Niagara County Sheriff Officer's Gun, Intent was to Escape Custody

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau is investigating an incident that occurred on September 19th, 2024 at the Niagara County Jail.

A 31-year old incarcerated male being transported to the Attica Correctional Facility did lunge at a Niagara County Correctional Officer and attempt to grab the Officer's service weapon.

The incarcerated individual was secured without further incident. Criminal charges are pending and the incarcerated individual will have a future court date in the Town of Lockport Court.
