Man Sentenced to 18 Years to Life for Deadly Shooting

A Buffalo resident will serve 18 years to life in state prison for a fatal shooting that occurred on Main Street in 2024, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said 41-year-old Ronald O’Neil fired multiple rounds at 42-year-old Darius Spates, Jr. on the 3100 block of Main Street during the early morning hours of May 26th.
The shooting, which happened around 2:30am, also involved an illegally possessed firearm.
Spates was transported to Erie County Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his back where he was later pronounced dead.
O’Neil previously pleaded guilt to charges of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

This guy flat out murders someone, pleads guilty to it and is given 18 years to life??? In this stupid state, he will probably be out in 10 years when, in my opinion, he should NEVER be allowed out of prison again. If you murder someone, you should never get out of prison, period
