A child is in critical condition after being trapped beneath a vehicle in a driveway accident Monday evening in the Town of Hartland, prompting an emergency response from Niagara County Sheriff's Department officials and a Mercy Flight airlift to the hospital.
Just after 5pm, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a serious accident involving a young child at a residence on Ellicott Road. Responding deputies arrived to find the child unconscious and pinned underneath a vehicle.
According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies, emergency medical personnel, other law enforcement agencies, and nearby community members worked urgently to lift the vehicle and free the child. Once extricated, the child received immediate life-saving treatment on scene.
