Neighborhood Watches in Shock as Mother-Daughter Dispute Results in Arrest

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1700 block of Pierce Avenue around 6:30pm on May 31st after reports of disorderly conduct.

Upon arrival, officers observed a female screaming at her mother in the middle of the street. The mother told police that her daughter was “unwelcome at her residence.”

The female kept pacing back and forth screaming obscenities and not listening to lawful orders given by officers to stop. When she was asked the mother what upset her daughter, she claimed her daughter suffers from schizophrenia and is "extremely" bipolar. Also that her daughter is homeless and has been bouncing around between houses in Erie County.

At this point, there were adults an children outside on the sidewalk watching the argument unfold. Officers mentioned in the official incident report that onlookers were “listening and watching in disbelief.” The people who lived across the street even came out onto their porch to see what the disturbance was.

Officers tried to calm the daughter down and asked her what could be done to help her. She stated there was property inside the residence that belonged to her and she wanted to grab it. Officers told her that she would have to leave and come back at a later date to grab whatever property she might have inside. She refused to listen and wouldn’t reason with any officer.

Officers finally told her there was nothing that could be done and, again, that she needed to leave. She kept swearing and causing a bigger disturbance. Officers told her to stop swearing multiple times. She was escorted off the property, but would not leave the street and walk area.

The daughter was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle. She was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. Officers released her with an appearance ticket.

No further information is available at this time.
