Amherst police confirmed that an officer shot and injured a woman on Tuesday afternoon at the Colonie Apartment Complex on Sweet Home Road. Authorities said the incident began around 2pm when a female armed with a knife was reported to be acting in a “threatening manner.” According to police, she advanced toward officers before being shot by one of them.
