Niagara County Corrections Officer Punched in the Face by Inmate

Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti announces the arrest of 32 year-old Ryan Zachary, an inmate at the Niagara County Correctional Facility. On November 25, 2025, NCSO corrections officers were attempting to get Zachary to exit his cell so that the cell could be cleaned and inspected.

As Zachary approached the cell door, he lunged at one of the officers and struck the officer in the head with a closed fist. As a result, the officer sustained physical injuries. The officer received treatment at a local medical facility and has since been released.

Zachary is charged with one count of Assault in the 2nd Degree (Assault of a Correctional Officer, a Class D Felony). Zachary was scheduled to appear at Niagara County CAP Court on 11/26/2025.
