Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti announces that Niagara County law enforcement agencies will participate in a special effort to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving during Stop-DWI campaign.

In a combined effort to stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives, law enforcement officers across New York State will take to the roads. The statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign efforts start on Friday, February 9th and will end on Sunday, February 11th.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office, as well as law enforcement agencies across Niagara County, will be out in force in this coordinated effort to reduce the number of impaired driving-related injuries and death.

The STOP-DWI Super Bowl High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide enforcement initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI New York and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The Statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign also targets Halloween, Thanksgiving, Holiday Season, St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th weekend, and Labor Day. Additionally, there will concentrated efforts on April 20th and July 10th. During these times, the focus of our community engagement will be drug impaired driving.
