Upon arrival, officers spoke to the manager who stated an employee, Sarah Lee, was seen on camera going into a storage closet behind the front desk and removing a purse that was found in the lobby.
Lee could be seen concealing an item underneath a ream of paper. The concealed item was then placed into a waste basket, which Lee then walked out of the building.
The purse was found in the dumpster behind Best Western. All of its belongings were recovered except for $1,400 in U.S. currency, $20 in euros and the equivalent of $222 in South African rands.
Officers placed Lee under arrest and transported her to police headquarters for booking and processing. She was charged with two counts of grand larceny.
It is unknown if the cash was recovered by police. Lee was fired by Best Western.
