Niagara Falls Man Suffers Significant Injuries After Drunken Hit-and-Run

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 8700 block of Buffalo Avenue on April 19th around 12:35am after reports of a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident with serious injuries.

Upon arrival, officers observed a while male lying on the ground at the intersection of Cayuga Drive and Buffalo Avenue with multiple individuals around him. One individual stated that he observed a white Ford F150 hit him and head northbound on Cayuga Drive. While speaking with that same witness, he mentioned that the two occupants of the Ford F150 were inside Foley’s bar before the incident and had an argument with the victim.

AMR and fire both responded to the scene. The victim was taken to ECMC with critical injuries. Traffic division then took over the investigation.

The two individuals who struck the victim with the F150 were kicked out of Foley’s Bar for being intoxicated. The witness, and friend of the victim, stated that the victim had been engaging with the with the suspects while in the roadway. The driver of the F150 had been attempting to strike him through the open driver window with his hand/arm.

The witness was unsure about how the victim as struck by the F150 but stated that it was likely intentional.

Police were also given additional information as to the suspects’ behavior inside Foley’s Bar that led to them being kicked out from another witness. They were approaching women in an inappropriate manner which led to them being cut off from being served alcohol and then ejected from the bar.

Officers relocated to ECMC to speak with the victim. While there, ER staff advised that he had a hemothorax, pneumothorax, a possible flail chest on the left side, and a Grade 1 splenic laceration. He required a chest tube to be placed in order to treat his injuries.
