On June 4, 2024, at approximately 6:32 pm, the Niagara Falls Police Department Crash Investigation Unit responded to the intersection of Hyde Park Blvd and Lockport Street to investigate a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle.
A 2015 Kia was traveling north on Hyde Park Blvd and while turning left on Lockport St, was struck by a southbound 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle.
The driver of the Kia, a 55-year-old Niagara Falls man, suffered pain to his back and said he would seek treatment from his personal physician.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 42-year-old Lewiston resident, suffered severe injuries to his lower leg. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment.
The Crash Investigation Unit is reviewing evidence to determine the appropriate charges.

Whenever a motorcycle is coming towards you, and you want to make a left hand turn, WAIT. Don’t turn until the motorcycle has passed you. Because motorcycles ( and bicycles) are smaller than cars, when coming straight towards you, they look further away than they are. Give them the benefit of the doubt and figure they’re closer than it seems. A sheriff’s deputy told me this, years ago. It’s just one of those oddities of our eyes, that makes us misjudge the distance.
And…
Why is the word severe in quotation marks in the headline? Was the person severely injured or not?
Be a reporter, will you?
