AUDIO: Teen Daughter Punches Mother in the Face

Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol on the 8700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard around 6:30pm on November 29th when they observed Tywaun Barnes inside Sandhu Express Mart. Officers were aware Barnes had active CID paperwork.

Officers entered the store and informed Barnes he was under arrest. He became argumentative and repeatedly requested to go to the bathroom to use his suboxone. Officers refused this request.

One officer grabbed ahold of Barnes and informed him force would be used if he did not submit to handcuffing. Barnes continued to refuse and be argumentative, at which time force was used to subdue him.

Although Barnes was ultimately handcuffed, he seriously injured the officer during the struggle.

The officer sustained facial lacerations from Barnes punching and clawing at him. The lacerations caused a substantial amount of pain and bleeding. He also suffered an abrasion and redness to his left knee that caused pain.

Barnes also sustained injuries that required hospitalization.

Barnes was charged with assault 2nd and resisting arrest as a result of the incident.

No further information is available at this time.
