Police Searching for Suspect who Shot 11-year-old Child

An 11-year-old boy is currently hospitalized after being shot while playing outside on Seneca Avenue in Olean on Tuesday evening. Police received reports of the shooting in the 1300 block of Seneca Avenue around 6:15pm.

Upon arrival, officers found the child had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Fire personnel quickly transported the boy to a nearby hospital for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear and the investigation is ongoing.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the owner of a truck captured in a video related to the case to contact the criminal investigation unit at (716) 376-5673.

The victim’s name is not being released due to his age.
