Whirlpool State Park – Niagara Falls
Just a few miles north of Niagara Falls, this location has some of the best scenery in the region. The upper level, which is essentially street level, offers some impressive views of fast-moving rapids, the whirlpool, and the Niagara River Escarpment. Bring the entire family and have a picnic. There’s even a playground for the kids.
The lower level, or river level, can be accessed by walking through 300 feet of trails and steps that descend into the Niagara Gorge. The hike down is about 30 minutes. Keep in mind the lower level has several nature trails and access to fishing. Whirlpool State Park is open year-round, and pets are welcome as long as they stay on a leash.
