A man from Oneida, New York, is facing multiple charges after state troopers encountered him urinating on the side of the road in the early morning hours of June 1st.
According to New York State Police, the incident took place around 3:12am along State Route 365 in the Town of Verona. Troopers on patrol noticed a vehicle parked along the highway shoulder with its driver-side door wide open. As they approached the scene, they saw a man relieving himself directly in the roadway.
The individual was identified as 23-year-old Matthew Keenan. Officers say Keenan appeared impaired, and upon inspecting the vehicle they found multiple open containers of alcohol inside.
After conducting field sobriety tests - which troopers say Keenan did not pass - he was taken into custody and brought to the State Police barracks in Oneida. There, a breathalyzer test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.14%.
Keenan now faces several charges, including:
-Driving while intoxicated (misdemeanor)
-Consuming alcohol in a vehicle on a public highway (infraction)
-Disorderly conduct (violation)
He has since been released and issued an appearance ticket. His case is scheduled to be heard in Verona Town Court at a later date.
