Niagara Falls Police responded to Dollar Tree on Portage Road around 9:00pm on Thursday, March 25th after a purse snatcher victimized a woman.
According to the complainant, she entered Dollar Tree to do some shopping. Going down one of the aisles she felt as though someone had been near her at which point she looked down and saw her purse was gone. The complainant looked toward the door and observed a black male wearing a wig running out with her purse.
Police were able to gather the following information: after leaving the store, the suspect took off the wig and got onto a bicycle traveling east across the lot. While riding the bike, someone from Dollar Tree yelled that he had stolen a woman’s purse, at which time bystanders chased him. The complainant even got into her vehicle and went after him. Police were able to quickly apprehend the suspect and return the purse to the complainant.
