Niagara Falls Police responded to Target on Niagara Falls Boulevard around 9pm on July 26th after reports of a shoplifter.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with the asset protection worker who stated that he recognized a female from a couple weeks ago that had stolen from the store.
She was currently filling up a shopping cart with merchandise when police arrived.
She started walking out of the store and passing all points of purchase with the items. While doing so, officers confronted her and advised her to stop. She turned around, looked at officers, and stated “no,” before leaving the cart and running away.
Officers quickly took the female, later identified as Elizabeth Riley, into custody without incident.
Target was able to recover the stolen items which totaled $1,640.71.
Riley was transported to police headquarters for booking at processing. It was then discovered she had an active warrant out of Clarence and was transported there afterwards.
