Niagara Falls Police responded to Subway on the 2600 block of Pine Avenue around 3:30pm after reports of an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated a black male entered the restaruant and ordered a sub. At the checkout counter, the suspect displayed a knife and reached over the counter to grab the sub. The employee, fearing for her safety, fled the register area.

Officers observed on surveillance footage that after the employee left the area, the unknown suspect “jumped over the counter and took the cash register drawer." He then fled the scene.

Officers spoke with another employee who stated she advised the cashier to run to the freezer while she called 911. There was $277.08 in the cash register when it was stolen.

The suspect is described as a black male approximately 6 feet tall. He was not wearing a mask during the robbery.

Crime scene investigators arrived to process the scene. The knife used in the robbery was on the ground next to the front door. The suspect also left an open can of Pepsi on the counter at the cash register. No further information is known at this time.
