Texas Man Extradited to Niagara County after Raping Child

A man from Texas has been extradited to Lockport after an investigation revealed that he had coerced a minor into sexual activity last August, according to the New York State Police. Javier Vasquez, 22, faces six counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of promoting a sexual performance by a child, as well as charges of criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities allege that in August 2024, Vasquez used drugs to manipulate a girl under 17 into engaging in sexual acts. The investigation into this potential sex crime began in April 2024, leading to Vasquez's discovery in Texas.

He has since been indicted on several felonies in Niagara County. Following his arrest on an outstanding warrant in Texas, he was extradited back to Lockport on Saturday and is currently held at the Niagara County Jail.
