Two New York State Troopers Hospitalized After Being Stabbed by Woman: 'Serious Injuries'

A 31-year-old woman from Bolivar is in custody after reportedly stabbing two New York State Troopers during a traffic stop involving a stolen vehicle in Allegany County over the weekend.
The incident occurred around 3:30pm Saturday in the parking lot of Crosby’s Gas Station at 500 Main Street in the Village of Bolivar. Troopers had located a stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop when the situation escalated.
According to New York State Police, the suspect, identified as Julia Groff, resisted arrest and allegedly attacked the officers with a knife. One trooper, Jacob Klock, sustained a stab wound above the eye, while another, Michael Rich, was stabbed in the head. One trooper discharged his firearm during the altercation, but no one was struck.
Both officers were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries.
Groff faces multiple felony charges, including:
-Two counts of first-degree attempted murder
-Two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer
-Two counts of menacing a police officer
-Fourth-degree grand larceny (related to the stolen vehicle)
-Second-degree obstruction of governmental administration
-Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
-Resisting arrest
Following her arraignment, Groff was remanded to the Allegany County Jail without bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 21st.
