Authorities in Tonawanda have shut down two smoke shops following an investigation into the sale of illegal cannabis products, according to police.
The businesses – Mr. Greensfield, located on Niagara Falls Boulevard, and Sweet Puffs, located on Delaware Avenue – were both ordered to cease operations earlier this week. Officials said the closures were tied to allegations that the shops were distributing illicit cannabis in violation of state regulations.
The enforcement action was carried out in coordination with the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, which has been actively targeting unlicensed cannabis sales across New York as part of a broader crackdown on illegal operations.
Both locations will remain closed pending the outcome of administrative hearings where the allegations will be formally reviewed.
Police are continuing to investigate and asking members of the public to come forward with any additional information related to the two businesses. Tips can be provided directly to the Tonawanda Police Department or submitted through a confidential hotline.
The shutdowns reflect enforcement efforts aimed at regulating New York’s legal cannabis market to eliminate sellers operating outside state oversight.
