Uber Driver Holds 18-year-old Girl Hostage in North Tonawanda for Sexual Favors

POLICE AUDIO CAN BE FOUND AT THE END OF THIS ARTICLE: Law enforcement received a call around 3:57pm on June 6th after reports of a hostage situation in North Tonawanda on 8th Avenue.

The 911 caller, who was described as an 18-year-old by police, told dispatch that the Uber driver was “holding her hostage” trying to arrange payment outside of the app. According to the call, this appeared to be for sexual favors.

Police responded to the scene. It is unknown if the 18-year-old was still being held in the vehicle when law enforcement arrived. The suspect’s identity should be known to police due to information available to law enforcement via ride sharing apps. No further information is available at this time.
