A popular hiking trail in the Adirondacks has been temporarily closed after state officials reported the presence of a potentially dangerous bull moose in the area.
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the Goodman Mountain Trail in the Horseshoe Lake Wild Forest has been shut down as a precaution to protect both visitors and the animal.
Wildlife experts caution that moose, especially males, can behave unpredictably if startled or approached, creating a safety risk for hikers.
Warning signs have been posted at trail entrances and access points and officials are urging outdoor sightseers to explore alternative trails in the region while the closure is in effect.
The DEC says the trail will remain closed until they determine it is safe to reopen to the public.
