Vacant Building Fire on Ferry Avenue Marks Third Blaze in Two Days for Niagara Falls Firefighters

Niagara Falls firefighters were dispatched to yet another fire on Sunday evening, marking the third structural blaze they’ve battled within a 48-hour span. The latest incident involved a vacant apartment building in the 500 block of Ferry Avenue.

Shortly after receiving the call, responding crews spotted heavy smoke rising in the distance. Engine 4 and Truck 1 were the first units to arrive at 516 Ferry Avenue where thick smoke had already begun to blanket the street, which initially made it difficult to locate the source of the flames.

After gaining access to the structure, firefighters determined that the fire originated on the second floor.

Crews advanced hoselines to the upper level, targeting the flames and bringing the situation under control.

There were no reported injuries. Fire officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze.
