Niagara Falls Police responded to the 2700 block of Falls Street around 3pm on December 3rd after reports of menacing with a weapon.
Upon arrival, officers observed the complainant on the front porch who stated that “she” had a hammer and was being held down inside of the house. The female, later identified as Fatima Nevitt, was indeed being held down inside the home by multiple individuals with the house in disarray.
Fatima was detained without incident and she was placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle.
Officers then spoke to one of the female victims. She stated that Fatima lives in the upstairs apartment and broke through her rear apartment door alleging that she stole a package. Fatima had a hammer in her pants.
Fatima then went back upstairs, but then a couple minutes later came downstairs with the hammer in hand above her head as if she was going to hit people. Her eyes were crazed.
One of the victim’s friends were able to get the hammer from Fatima, at which time Fatima kicked over a bookcase and charged toward her. They were able to both bring Fatima to the ground where she was held until police arrived.
Another two females were present at the time of the altercation and ended up leaving without notice. One of them was highly upset and complaining of hand and arm pain. Officers observed small lacerations on her arms and a bite mark, where she stated Fatima bit her.
The hammer in question was located on clothing next to where Fatima was held down. Officers also observed the back door frame to be damaged from where Fatima forced herself into the apartment.
Fatima was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available at this time.
