Young Woman's Death at Motel Ruled a Homicide; Suspect Identified

Authorities in Amherst have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a 27-year-old woman at a motel on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Police responded to what was initially reported as a medical emergency Tuesday on the 1900 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard.

However, a preliminary investigation led officers to determine the woman's death was the result of a homicide.

An arrest warrant for 2nd-degree murder has been issued for 37-year-old Daniel Negron of Buffalo who police suspect was the perpetrator.

According to officials, Negron is currently in custody in Erie, Pennsylvania on an unrelated charge and is awaiting extradition.

The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released at this time.

Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Amherst Police Department at (716) 689-1311.
