Body Discovered in Submerged Vehicle in Upstate New York


Authorities are investigating a death after a vehicle was pulled from a creek in Stuyvesant Falls, New York, where a body was found inside.


The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it is looking into the circumstances surrounding a fatal incident that occurred Friday morning, July 25th, when a vehicle was found submerged in Kinderhook Creek near Lindenwald Avenue in the hamlet of Stuyvesant Falls.



Columbia County Sheriff Donald J. Krapf stated that his department received a call at around 9:00am reporting a car in the water.


Deputies arrived at the location shortly after and confirmed that a white vehicle was submerged in the creek. In response, the Sheriff’s Mobile Command Center was deployed to aid in the investigation and search efforts.


The vehicle was recovered from the water and a male occupant was found deceased inside. Authorities are withholding the individual’s identity until next of kin are notified.



No further information has been released at this time. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.
