Niagara Falls Police say they have identified and located the suspect driver following a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured early Sunday morning.
Emergency responders were called to the 8700 block of Buffalo Avenue around 12:38am where they found a man in his 40s lying in the roadway. Investigators believe the victim had been struck and run over by a vehicle before the driver fled the scene.
The injured man was transported to Erie County Medical Center where he was treated for multiple serious injuries. Authorities indicated he remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit but is currently listed in stable condition.
As the investigation unfolded, officers developed information about the vehicle believed to be involved as well as the person behind the wheel. Later Sunday, around midday, police located a Ford F-150 on the 1100 block of 13th Street that matched the description provided by investigators.
The suspected driver was subsequently found and taken into custody for questioning.
Police have not yet released the identities of those involved and no charges have been formally announced, although they are likely.
