Firefighters Respond to Basement Blaze in North Tonawanda

A late-night fire broke out at a residence on Mazda Terrace in North Tonawanda prompting a swift response from local fire crews.
Just before 11pm on Monday, North Tonawanda Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a home on the 500 block of Mazda Terrace following reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered thick smoke coming from the structure.
Firefighters quickly traced the source of the fire to the basement which was filled with heavy smoke and low visibility. Despite the conditions, the blaze was brought under control quickly. All occupants inside the home at the time were able to evacuate safely without assistance. No injuries were reported.
After ventilating the home and ensuring the fire was fully extinguished, the scene was cleared within an hour. The North Tonawanda Fire Investigation Team has taken over to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.
