Four Arrested in Drug and Weapons Investigation Following Niagara Falls Overdose

An overdose death in a Niagara Falls motel room has led to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of significant quantities of drugs and a firearm following a months-long police investigation.

The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) launched the investigation on November 25th, 2024, after a 63-year-old man was discovered deceased in a local motel. Given evidence suggesting a drug overdose, the NRPS opioid enforcement and education unit initiated a parallel probe into possible drug trafficking connected to the incident.

Police determined the victim had acquired fentanyl from a suspected drug dealer operating from a vehicle shortly before his death. Samples retrieved from the scene were examined by the Centre of Forensic Sciences and revealed the presence of multiple variants including fentanyl, fluorofentanyl, and methylfentanyl. The official cause of death was attributed to a lethal combination of fentanyl and fluorofentanyl.

Through their investigation, detectives identified a group believed to be involved in mobile drug sales in both Niagara Falls and Welland. On Wednesday, April 22nd, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Welland’s Dain City neighborhood resulting in the discovery of:

-610 grams of suspected fentanyl, valued at approximately $73,200

-517 grams of suspected crystal meth worth an estimated $15,500

-185.2 grams of suspected powdered and crack cocaine valued at $14,800

-$5,000 in cash

-A 9mm handgun with an extended magazine

A 30-year-old woman from Welland and three men from Toronto - ages 19, 29, and 30 - have been charged with multiple drug trafficking and firearms offenses.
