A 19-year-old inmate in the Cattaraugus County Jail is facing charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend during a visit. Donte Weakfall-Wright has been charged with second-degree felony assault following the incident that occurred on Friday, June 21st.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, the incident unfolded when Weakfall-Wright became agitated during the visit and proceeded to repeatedly punch his girlfriend in the head and face with a closed fist. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, received immediate medical attention from prison staff. She was later transported to Olean General Hospital, where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

This is not the first time Weakfall-Wright has found himself on the wrong side of the law. He was previously arrested by state police on March 23rd on charges of second-degree burglary and third-degree assault. He has remained in custody since then.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the assault case and additional charges may be filed against Weakfall-Wright.
