Woman Found Dead at Apartment in Niagara Falls as Police Investigate City’s First Homicide of 2026

Niagara Falls Police have initiated a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead inside a city apartment complex Monday morning, marking the first homicide of 2026.

Officers were dispatched to Niagara Towers shortly after 11am for a welfare check on a resident. Upon arrival, patrol officers discovered a deceased woman inside the unit.

Following the discovery, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division and members of the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and began processing evidence. Investigators remained at the apartment complex for several hours with evidence bags seen being removed from the building throughout the afternoon.

Law enforcement sources indicated the victim was a resident of Niagara Towers and is believed to be between 30 and 40-years-old. Sources further noted that the woman had likely been dead for an extended period before she was found.
