A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized Tuesday evening after his e-scooter collided with a car at the intersection of 17th Street and Pierce Avenue according to the Niagara Falls Police Department.

The incident occurred around 6pm. Police, firefighters, and AMR ambulance personnel responded to the scene. Authorities said the teen, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to preliminary findings, the teen was heading north on 17th Street when he failed to stop at the intersection, striking the side of a westbound 2000 Mercury Sable driven by a 52-year-old man. A female passenger was also in the car. Neither occupant of the vehicle was injured.
