Niagara Falls Police had received a Flock ALPR Notification on November 23rd for a stolen white 2023 Ford TCN in the area of Main and 4th Streets. Officers were patrolling the tourist area in downtown Niagara Falls around 1am on November 24th when they observed the vehicle parked on the 400 block of Niagara Street.
Officers made contact with the female driver and sole occupant who was immediately detained in handcuffs.
The driver stated she rented the vehicle in Brooklyn and claimed to have extended her rental to be current. This, however, was not the case.
She gave officers permission to search the vehicle. Rental paperwork was located showing that the vehicle was due back on November 14th. No contraband was located in the vehicle. NYPD confirmed that the vehicle was stolen and requested that the vehicle be impounded and held for the owner.
The driver told police that she is homeless and was doing cross-country moving jobs to have enough money to survive. Officers retrieved her jacket, backpack, purse, camera, and cell phone from the vehicle for her.
She was transported to police headquarters for booking, processing and held for arraignment. No further information is available at this time.
