Prosecutors announced that a Niagara County jury found 33-year-old Brandon Wall guilty of aggravated cruelty to an animal and criminal mischief in the second degree after determining he strangled a puppy belonging to his significant other, leaving the animal with severe injuries that required intensive veterinary care to survive.
District Attorney Brian Seaman condemned the act following the guilty verdict:
“It is hard to imagine how a person could hurt a helpless pet in this way,” said Seaman.
“We will be asking the judge to impose a state prison sentence.”
Wall now faces a potential sentence of up to seven years in prison when he appears before County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek for sentencing.
The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Derek Hafner and Raymond Fadel.
