Niagara Falls Police responded to the 2100 block of North Avenue around 11am on September 28th to assist Niagara County Probation with a home visit.
Once at the probationer’s residence, both probation officers made contact with him and entered the residence. Niagara Falls Police officers followed shortly afterward.
The probationer was already in handcuffs and being searched when police officers entered the residence. Once he was detained, probation officers started to search the residence.
Probation Officers quickly located a firearm in an upstairs bedroom. Police relocated upstairs and observed the suspected firearm, which was identified as a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun. It was loaded with 14 rounds in the magazine and nothing in the chamber. The number where the serial numbers are commonly located on the firearm were also scratched off.
The probationer was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available at this time.
