The Niagara County Sheriff's Office was alerted to the lockdown alarm at Niagara Wheatfield Senior High School before 8am. In response, the Department, New York State Police, and other officials immediately mobilized to secure the premises. At the time of the initial alert, the cause of the alarm had not yet been determined. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office took to social media to inform the public about the situation, stating, "There is a law enforcement presence at Niagara Wheatfield High School due to a lockdown alarm that was received. There have been no threats identified; however, law enforcement is thoroughly checking the school out of an abundance of caution." Shortly after, at 8:19am, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office provided an update confirming that no threats were found during the investigation and the school was cleared. The school superintendent expressed gratitude for the quick response from law enforcement, stating, "The great news is this, law enforcement response time was amazing." Rashaan Mallory, 29, from Buffalo is accused of kidnapping a woman and discharging a weapon at a youth football game in Buffalo on Sunday. The incident began when Mallory forcibly took a male and female into his car, driving them to the football game location near Koons Avenue. Once there, he proceeded to rob two individuals during which one of them was shot. The victim, a 31-year-old man from Rochester, sustained injuries in the shooting. The incident occurred around 11am. Following the shooting, Mallory attempted to flee the scene with the female victim still in the car. He had taken her phone to prevent her from seeking help, likely threatening her that she could also be shot if she tried to escape. However, officers quickly spotted his vehicle at the intersection of Koons and Sycamore Street. He was ordered to exit the vehicle, but did not comply. Instead, he put the car in reverse, which resulted in a crash. From the crash site, officers recovered a loaded firearm. Mallory, who is currently on parole, now faces a multitude of additional charges, including second-degree attempted murder, second-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault, first-degree robbery (three counts), second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. A youth football game in Buffalo was thrown into chaos after a Rochester man was struck by gunfire on Sunday, September 15th. Shortly after 11:30am, Buffalo Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire at the youth football game. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 31-year-old man who had sustained at least one bullet wound. The victim was immediately transported to ECMC by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Buffalo police recovered a firearm believed to be connected with the incident. A motorcycle crash in the Town of Stafford has resulted in the loss of a young life. The Genesee County Sheriff's Office announced that 20-year-old Michael Ciarpelli, of Rochester, was killed in an accident on Saturday. The incident took place around 5:30pm when 911 received a call reporting a personal injury accident on Route 33. After arriving at the scene, officers discovered that Ciarpelli's Yamaha motorcycle had collided head-on with a Ford Edge driven by 76-year-old Luanne Andrews of West Henrietta. Colleen O'Mara, a 67-year-old resident of West Henrietta, was a passenger in the Ford. According to a preliminary investigation conducted by the sheriff's office, Ciarpelli was traveling westbound on Route 33 and attempted to pass two vehicles ahead of him. Meanwhile, Andrews was making a left turn from Griswold Road and began traveling east on Route 33. Ciarpelli's attempt to overtake the vehicles resulted in a head-on collision with the Ford in the eastbound lane. Ciarpelli was ejected from his motorcycle and landed violently on the north shoulder of Route 33. Despite life-saving efforts, Ciarpelli was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred in Niagara County when a Youngstown woman, identified as 69-year-old Anastassia Radell, allegedly failed to yield the right of way while exiting the Niagara Scenic Parkway northbound onto Route 93 in the Town of Porter. The collision took place as Mattina's motorcycle, traveling eastbound, struck the vehicle driven by Radell. State police have confirmed that Mattina was conducting a safety run for the upcoming Dice Run organized by the WNY Riding Lions Club at Mercy Flight, scheduled for Saturday, September 15th. The USA Niagara Development Corporation (USAN) Board of Directors met today and approved a $13.8 million construction contract to advance two prominent placemaking projects near Niagara Falls State Park: Gorge Gateway Park & Hydraulic Power Plaza. The projects involve the construction of multi-use public spaces on currently vacant parcels, featuring “heritage checkpoints” or interpretive stations to encourage and amplify visitor activities and experiences. The properties were originally acquired by USAN through the state’s Strategic Land Acquisition Program, aimed at returning long-dormant properties back to productive use. Scott Lawn Yard, a local company awarded the contract, plans to begin construction this fall, with an estimated summer 2026 completion. The park will include an event lawn for gatherings and picnicking; woodland gardens with walking paths and benches; stormwater meadows to capture and store rainwater on-site; and an accessible seat wall terrace that will allow for views above the rest of the site. Hydraulic Power Plaza will be built on vacant land between 1st and 2nd streets. The approximately 1.4-acre plaza will follow the alignment of the historic hydraulic canal that once ran through the site to provide a power source for early local industry and eventually large-scale electricity generation. The plaza will include landscaping, informal seating areas, a small play structure and an array of lights supported by steel structures, inspired by historic transmission towers. The site will also feature 105-foot-long misting fountain that invokes the former canal. The plaza’s design incorporates space for the installation of a temporary ice rink during the winter months. In addition to providing a new connection from the State Park to downtown Niagara Falls, the plaza will be an asset for future developments to be constructed on the surrounding state-owned land. The owner of Lockport Cave and Niagara Zipper has filed a 50-page federal lawsuit against the City of Lockport and several city officials after a fatal incident occurred during an underground boat tour last June. The lawsuit alleges that key witnesses were not properly interviewed and that the police investigation was biased, among other claims. The lawsuit targets the former mayor, the Lockport Police Department's Chief of Police, the city's chief building inspector, and others. It asserts that the business's constitutional rights were violated and that the owner was kept in the dark throughout the investigation due to persistent issues with Freedom of Information Law requests. On June 12th, a boat carrying 29 passengers capsized inside the cave resulting in the death of 65-year-old Harshad Shah from Niagara Falls and the hospitalization of 11 others. Lockport officials confirmed the incident at the time but did not file any criminal charges following the investigation. According to the lawsuit, Lockport Police failed to properly identify and interview key witnesses at the scene including a tour guide. The lawsuit also alleges that the chief building inspector may have sought a kickback to allow the business to reopen and that the inspector cited alleged electrical issues and code violations without specifying which code sections the owner was in violation of. The lawsuit claims that city officials made false and misleading comments to the media that were defamatory and damaging to the owner's reputation and business. As a result of those statements, it is alleged that there was a loss of business for the owner in addition to reputational harm. A Cheektowaga man was arraigned on Friday, September 13th on a murder charge along with other offenses after beating a man to death in Buffalo's Riverside neighborhood. He then fled to South Carolina. The investigation began when Buffalo police conducted a wellness check at the home of 66-year-old Michael Fronczak at Henrietta Avenue on August 17th. Tragically, officers discovered Fronczak deceased in the basement. The Erie County Medical Examiner's Office determined that his death was a result of blunt force trauma and ruled it a homicide. James D. Dietz, 56, is believed to have brutally beat Fronczak to death using his fists and a lamp. Following the deadly assault, Dietz stole the victim's wallet and vehicle before fleeing the area. Authorities apprehended Dietz in Taylors, South Carolina on August 21st. After waiving extradition, he was returned to Western New York to face prosecution for the death of Fronczak. Dietz has been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and petit larceny. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Currently, he is being held without bail. The date for his next court appearance has not yet been scheduled. Gildersleeve was convicted in June of this year of Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree for the shooting death of Daniella Patterson in the 400 block of 9th Street in Niagara Falls on December 10, 2022. County Court Judge Caroline Wojtaszek handed down the sentence ordering that 10 years on the weapons charges be served concurrent to the 25 years to Life sentence on the Murder conviction. “This was a senseless killing of a single mother. While nothing can bring her back to her children, we hope that the sentence handed down today will start the healing process for this family,” said Seaman. Moreland of Middleport. The seated construction worker transported by Mercy Flight was twenty-four year old Zachary K. Brown of Newfane. The construction worker injured on the pump trailer was twenty-three year old Sheldon J. Gardner of Little Genesee, New York. Investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. The construction worker that was struck while seated was flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC for treatment to neck and back pain. The construction worker who had been standing on the trailer was transported by ambulance to ECMC for treatment to complaints similar in nature. Victims and Driver Identified in Horrific Accident Where Vehicle Left Roadway and Hit Construction Workers

Niagara Falls Police responded to Rite Aid on the 8000 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard around 2:30pm on September 10th after reports of a shoplifter. While en route, dispatch advised officers that a white male had left the store with beer and was heading towards Delta Sonic. Officers arrived and observed the male walking by the car wash entrance. The male did run westbound through the back lot over to the detail shop and then southbound again. After a short runaround, the male was found lying in a field just west of Delta Sonic. He had hoped that the tall grass would hide his body, but it did not. Officers recovered a Heineken Beer that the male had stole inside the detail shop. The male was taken into custody and transported back to Rite Aid where he was positively ID’d by Store Manager. The male was issued a trespass notice and an appearance ticket. Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1000 block of Niagara Street around 1:30pm on September 10th after reports of a robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated he was robbed of his bicycle at approx. 3:15pm the prior day. The complainant told police that he “found” a yellow Schwinn Beach Cruiser bicycle a couple weeks ago on Casino property “as if someone left it there.” He took the bicycle and has been using it ever since. The complainant was riding it in the area of 19th Street when an unknown light-skinned Hispanic male yelled at him “that’s my bike.” He stopped the bicycle at which time the unknown Hispanic male and a black female approached him. The Hispanic male pulled out a knife and started threatening the complainant. He wanted his bicycle back. The complainant, not wanting to fight, let the Hispanic male take the bicycle. Two individuals are facing charges after a search warrant was executed in response to a threat against a kindergarten class, according to Buffalo police. The incident unfolded when FBI Buffalo received a complaint about a Discord post referencing a potential shooting at a kindergarten class. The post, made on August 27th, did not specify any particular school or class, leading authorities to believe it was an isolated incident. Following the complaint, Buffalo police conducted a search at a residence on the 900 block of Sycamore Street. During the search, officers discovered a loaded gun with five rounds of ammunition along with additional ammunition. The firearm matched the one depicted in the social media post and the bedding shown in the post matched that of a 15-year-old residing in the home. The 15-year-old was charged with making a threat of mass harm and was arraigned. Although the teenager is confirmed to be a student in the Buffalo school system, the specific school cannot be disclosed due to his juvenile status. Further investigation revealed that the gun belonged to the 15-year-old's brother, 18-year-old Saeed Saeed. Authorities also seized 14 pounds of marijuana from a separate bedroom in the residence. As a result, Saeed is facing charges of criminal possession of cannabis and failure to safely store firearms. He was arraigned, released, and is scheduled to appear in court on September 30th. Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating a crash that occurred on Wednesday night in Grand Island. The crash occurred around 9pm. Officials from the Erie County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a body was discovered at the scene. Despite lifesaving efforts performed by a bystander, law enforcement and first responders, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as Leah Mayer. Niagara Falls Police were driving down Pine Avenue around 10pm on September 9th when officers observed a grey Nissan pulling up to a stop sign. Officers were aware that a Nissan Versa had been reported stolen just hours prior and believed it couldn't be a coincidence. Police cruiser lights were activated to initiate a traffic stop. Officers then made contact with the driver and three other parties in the vehicle. The driver was advised that the vehicle had been reported stolen, to which she responded that her “friend . . . let her use it.” She then started referring to herself as his girlfriend. Officers told the driver that everything would be figured out when everyone exited the vehicle. While officers were telling all occupants to come out one at a time, the backseat passenger suspect ran from the vehicle. The driver was told officers would need proof that she had permission to use the vehicle. However, when she tried to call the owner he did not answer. He did not answer when dispatch called either.   Due to the fact that the vehicle owner signed a supporting deposition stating that his car was stolen, officers told her that she would have to be arrested. She was detained without incident, transported to police headquarters for booking and processing, and released with an appearance ticket. No further information is available at this time. Niagara Falls Police responded to the Caravan Motel on Niagara Falls Boulevard around 7pm on September 9th after reports of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated that he parked his car on September 8th at approximately 5pm and upon leaving for work the following morning at 5:30am it was gone. The vehicle was a 2021 grey Nissan Versa valued at $15,000. The complainant further told police that his original key fob and car was stolen “a few months ago,” but that he recovered it and drove it home with a spare key. He believes that whoever took his vehicle now has the original key fob. There are no suspects. No further information is available at this time. Niagara Falls Police responded to 1700 block of Whitney Avenue around 11:30am on September 9th after reports of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated that his blue 1997 Chevy Cavalier was stolen from the back of his house on Thursday night, but did not know until Friday afternoon when he was approached by a random black male on a bicycle. The male began asking him about his yellow Chevy in the back. The complainant stated he owned it. The male stated that he “works for a company that takes abandoned vehicles.” The complainant stated that there was an abandoned Kia in the back and asked if he took that. The male stated “no, but we took the blue Chevy.” The complainant told the male that the Chevy was his and not abandoned. The male stated he would bring it back but never did. He also gave the complainant a fake name and number, which was discovered shortly thereafter.   The complainant stated that he had surveillance footage of a white tow truck with grey tape covering the lettering of a company name. The tow truck backed up to his vehicle and took it on Thursday night at 10:25pm. The complainant told police that he has friends in the business and suspects he knows the location of where the vehicle is, but that it is “probably junked” by now. He told police that these guys likely go around and steal abandoned vehicles and then sell parts/materials and make a profit. Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating a crash that occurred on Wednesday night in Grand Island. The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition (NITTEC) initially reported the closure of South Parkway from Broadway to Love Road at 9:08pm due to a crash. Officials from the Erie County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a body was discovered at the scene. In a Facebook post on Wednesday night, superintendent of the Grand Island Central School District Brian Graham revealed that the victim was an 8th-grade student who was struck by a vehicle on South Parkway near Broadway. Two women from Niagara Falls have been sentenced for their involvement in an assault that took place at Tim Hortons in 2023. The incident, which was captured on video and widely disseminated on social media, occurred at the Pine Avenue location. Brittny Robinson and Brionna Harris, both residents of the Falls, were sentenced for their roles in the assault. Each was given a 2-year prison sentence followed by 1.5 years of post-release supervision. The victim, a 42-year-old, was treated at a local hospital for injuries sustained during the assault. The details of the assault and the motive behind it have not been disclosed publicly, nor were they commented on at sentencing by the Niagara County District Attorney's Office. There was also a teenager charged in connection with the incident but their case was transferred to Family Court due to their age. Greenwald of Lake Wales, Florida. The driver of the east bound 2019 GMC was seventy-seven year old Earl H. Foster of Wilson. ORIGINAL STORY On Tuesday, September 10th, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lake and Carmen Roads in the Town of Somerset. Initial investigation by responding Deputies at the scene revealed that a 2024 Nissan was north bound on Carmen Road when it failed to yield the right of way to a 2019 GMC that was east bound on Lake Road. The GMC stuck the Nissan after which it traveled into the cornfield northeast of the intersection where it came to rest. The Nissan came to rest in the intersection upon the roadway. The seventy-seven year old male operator of GMC was transported by ambulance to Lockport Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The seventy-eight year old male operator of the Nissan was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC where he was succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Niagara Falls Police responded to the 8200 block of Krull Parkway around 6:30pm on September 8th after reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the female complainant who stated she lives on Krull Parkway with her fiancé. At approximately 6:20pm she arrived at her residence with her fiancé. The complainant ran into the house for a few things before leaving again to go to work. When leaving the residence through the back door, she was approached by her fiancés ex-girlfriend and mother of his child. The ex-girlfriend began screaming that she wanted her daughter back. The complainant, not in a position to make that decision for her fiancé, refused. The fiancé then became aware of the situation and advised that the child would not be going with her mother because of a recent incident with CPS. There is no current custody agreement between the parties. The complainant stated that the ex-girlfriend struck her with a closed fist. She then took out a knife that was hidden in her jacket. She swung the knife at the complainant and sliced her in the face, neck and arms. The complainant put her hands up in an effort to protect herself, which only increased the amount of cuts she sustained. The ex-girlfriend was punched with a closed fist and then ran to her vehicle. The complainant told officers that she was trying to kill her. After police arrived the complainant was taken to the hospital via ambulance. The ex-girlfriend was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where she was booked, processed and held for arraignment due to the seriousness of the charges, which are qualified offenses for bail to be set.   No further information is available at this time. On September 10th 2024 at 2330 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a vehicle had struck a house in the 3200 block of Lockport Olcott Road. Deputies arrived to find a single vehicle had left the roadway and struck the home causing structural damage. Upon investigation, Deputies arrested the Operator Christopher R. Fredrick, a 40-year-old male from Gasport. Fredrick was charged with Driving While Intoxicated - one previous conviction (E-Felony), Driving While Intoxicated .08% or more (E-Felony), Aggravated Unlicensed Operations 1st (Felony) and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. There were no injuries reported by the occupants of the vehicle or home. At this time, there is no estimate of damage to the home. An Amherst man has been sentenced to six months in jail (which is really four months with good behavior which 99% of inmates receive) followed by five years of probation for his involvement in a fatal hit-and-run incident earlier this year. Matthew Althoff, 40-years-old, received the sentence on Monday. The incident occurred on January 15th when Althoff was driving westbound on Losson Road in Cheektowaga around 7:21pm. According to officials, he struck a pedestrian and fled the scene without reporting the incident. The victim, identified as 41-year-old Antwain Hankle, was clearing snow from his vehicle in front of his home when the accident occurred. Hankle was immediately transported to ECMC by ambulance but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. In May, Althoff pleaded guilty to the charges of fatally striking a pedestrian and leaving the scene. He initially faced up to 7 years in prison, yet only received 6 months in jail followed by 5 years probation. Due to inmates only having to serve 2/3's of their sentence, he will only serve four months. Althoff's driver's license has been revoked. As part of his post-release supervision, he will be required to participate in a DWI Treatment Court Program and install an ignition interlock device in his vehicle (which is irrelevant as his license is revoked). Defendant Gets 6 Months in Jail After Fatal Hit-and-run of Black Man

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1700 block of 17th Street around 10pm on September 7th after reports of a subject with a knife. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the female complainant who stated that she was home with her boyfriend at 9:30pm when another female who lived in the house became unhinged about the possibility of the complainant's cousins moving into the home since they had been "living in their garage." The complainant then said the female threatened to kill them if the cousins entered the house and “brought bugs.” The female came out of her room across the hall and began waiving a machete at the complainant and her boyfriend threatening to slice them up. The complainant was fearful for her life and called 911. While on the phone with police, the female started hitting the staircase with the machete. Officers found the machete in the living room of their residence and collected it for processing. The female was taken into custody, placed in a patrol vehicle, and transported to police headquarters. She was booked, processed and then released with an appearance ticket. Niagara Falls Police were out assisting with a crash investigation around 1am on September 7th on Garden Avenue when officers observed a black male who was intoxicated at the scene. Officers found that one person had fled from the vehicle involved in the crash. When the intoxicated male showed up, he started claiming that it was “his people in the car.” Without permission, he accessed the vehicle and had to be ordered multiple times to step away from the vehicle. It is unclear why he wanted to get into the vehicle or if he removed anything from it. The male also repeatedly approached officers. At one point, he went to remove his pen*s from his pants and requested that a female officer suck his di*k. The officer then advised him that he would be placed under arrest. However, as she approached him it appeared that he was going to spit into her face at which time use of force was utilized. Once in custody, he was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. He was held for arraignment and not released on an appearance ticket due to prior failure to appear warrants from June of 2024.   No further information is available at this time. The National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Western New York on Monday causing localized damage. The tornadoes, classified as EF-0, left their mark in Grand Island and the Town of Pembroke. The first tornado, with estimated peak wind speeds of 85 mph, occurred in Grand Island between 4:33pm and 4:36pm. The NWS reported that it initially formed as a tornadic waterspout before transitioning onto land near West River Road and Third Avenue. The tornado traveled southeast causing the most significant damage along First Street and Second Avenue where a couple of trees were uprooted. As it approached the White Haven Road the damage lessened. In total, the tornado traveled a distance of 1.2 miles with a path width of 75 yards. The tornado made landfall less than a mile and a half from Niagara Falls. Approximately four hours later, a second EF-0 tornado touched down in Pembroke. Lasting for two minutes, the tornado had wind speeds of up to 75 mph. It began at 8:32pm along Route 77 near the hamlet of Indian Falls resulting in tree damage at three residences. Several trees were uprooted and others had large limbs blown down. The tornado continued its eastward path before dissipating at 8:34pm. The Buffalo Bills reached a milestone in their Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals by setting an NFL record that may never be broken. Despite a tumultuous first quarter, the Bills rallied to secure a victory and the record. The Cardinals dominated time of possession in the first half, seemingly able to march up and down the field at will. This put the Bills in a daunting 17-3 deficit. However, QB Josh Allen's touchdown run just before halftime narrowed the gap to 17-10. The Bills then scored on their first possession in the second half with a touchdown pass from Allen to Mack Hollins. Another touchdown pass, this time to Khalil Shakir, and a second touchdown run from Allen solidified the Bills' comeback victory. The win also marked a significant milestone for the team. The Bills set an NFL record that will be very difficult for any team to surpass. Buffalo has now gone 42 consecutive games without losing by more than six points. The prior record had held for decades. To put it in perspective, the last time the Bills lost by more than six points was on November 21, 2021, when they lost 41-15 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts. Niagara Falls Police responded to Petco on Military Road around 6pm on September 6th after reports of a larceny. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated she works in the grooming department. While in the dog bathing area an older white male wearing all black entered the grooming area and took her cell phone that was on one of the workstations. He then left the grooming area and walked out of the store on foot. The phone is valued at $500. The complainant had never seen the man before as she was not able to identify him apart from a brief physical description. There is surveillance video of the theft occurring and it is not believed he stole anything else from the store. It is believed he entered the store, went to the grooming area, and left. Buffalo Police announced that an arrest has been made and charges filed against a student in connection with the stabbing that occurred at McKinley High School on Monday. The incident left a 15-year-old student in serious condition. Authorities arrested a 15-year-old male student from McKinley High School. He has been charged with one count of first-degree assault and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by persons under sixteen. According to Buffalo Police, a student was stabbed at McKinley High School on Monday, September 9th. At approximately 1:10pm police arrived at the scene and discovered a 15-year-old male student had been stabbed by another student within the school. He was in critical condition. The injured student was transported to Oishei Children's Hospital where he remains in serious condition, but is expected to survive. During a press conference, Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia provided further details about the incident. He stated that the male student had been stabbed three times - once in the neck, once in the back, and once in the arm. Gramaglia also revealed that the victim and the two individuals involved in the incident were the same individuals involved in another stabbing that occurred in July near Fountain Plaza on Main Street. The 15-year-old victim had also been stabbed during the summer incident. According to Gramaglia, the incident took place during a fight on a stairwell between classes. A security officer intervened, ending the attack. The other two individuals proceeded to a classroom on the third floor where they were apprehended by the police. The knife used in the attack was recovered as evidence. Gramaglia expressed uncertainty about how the knife managed to bypass McKinley High School's weapons detection system, which is concerning. Niagara Falls Police was sitting on the side of 19th Street at Forest Avenue around 6pm on September 6th when officers began to hear yelling such as “help” and “no!” Officers then observed a black male running north on 19th Street. Officers located the female victim who was “still in shock [with] fear throughout her face,” according to the official incident report. She stated that “a black male with no fingers just reached into her pocket almost pushing her over while she was walking home from Save-a-Lot." In their report, officers noted that the male suspect, Justin Gabby, is known to law enforcement due to 10+ arrests over the past few years and the fact that he has “almost no fingers on both hands.” The victim continued, stating that Gabby “reached into her pocket taking $11.”   Officers quickly located GabbyG who had not made it very far. He attempted to flee by jumping a fence but fell in his face. At this point officers utilized force to subdue him and place him under arrest. Once in custody, officers transported Gabby to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available at this time. Niagara Falls Police responded to the 500 block of 25th Street around 8am on September 6th after reports of a larceny from a vehicle.   Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated that she had moved her vehicle around 1am to the correct side of the road per alternate parking laws. The vehicle, a 2008 Ford Expedition, was locked and there was nothing wrong with it (i.e.: all windows were intact). This morning she discovered the passenger side window had been broken out and her stereo stolen. Officers observed the damaged window and small pry marks where the window would be on the vehicle. The estimated damage to the window is estimated at $200. The Android Stereo is valued at $450.   Officers canvassed the area for possible cameras with negative results. Multiple Incidents of Stolen License Plates Across Niagara Falls in One Night Niagara Falls Police responded to the 100 block of 73rd Street around 9:30am on September 5th after reports of a larceny. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated that an unknown person stole the license plates off of her 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight when it occurred. The complainant stated that there was no damage to the vehicle and nothing was stolen from inside. She stated there is no reason she can think of why someone would want her license plates. Later that day police received a walk-in complaint around 2:15pm of another license plate theft. According to the complainant, an unknown person stole the license plates from her 2011 Cadillac.   She stated the vehicle was parked in her driveway overnight and when she returned to her vehicle they were gone. There is no other damage and nothing was stolen from inside her vehicle. There are no suspects at this time in either case. There was no surveillance footage of either incident. Niagara Falls Police received a walk-in complaint at 1925 Main Street around 1pm on September 5th of a larceny. The complainant told police that she was at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s ER and forgot her handbag in the waiting room when she was escorted to a room for treatment. When she realized that she did not have her purse she returned to the waiting area and discovered that her wallet was missing from the handbag.   The wallet is valued at $10 and contained $7 in cash, a NYS ID, and 3 social security cards. The complainant stated she made contact with NFMMC employees but was told the cameras did not cover that specific area. There are no suspects at this time. On the third day of the 2024-25 school year, a McKinley High School student was stabbed on school premises according to Buffalo Police. Law enforcement and first responders responded to the scene at approximately 1:10pm. It was revealed that a 15-year-old male student had been stabbed by another student within the school. There is no known motive at this time. The injured student was transported by ambulance to Oishei Children's Hospital for serious injuries. There has been no detail as to how many times or where the student was stabbed. As of this afternoon, two students were being questioned. The school was on lockdown as of 2pm with everyone sheltering in place. Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino and Niagara County Legislators Chris Mckimmie and Chris Voccio will be holding a community forum on Wednesday, September 18 with local residents to discuss the ongoing rat problem in the city’s LaSalle neighborhood. Several government agencies will also be present to discuss rat mitigation efforts.  The forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the LaSalle Public Library located at 8728 Buffalo Avenue. “Addressing the rat issue requires collaboration from every level of government, multiple government agencies and every single resident,” said Restaino.  “The goal of this forum is to hear everyone’s point of view, discuss what has been done and what needs to be done, and ultimately conclude with a plan going forward.” Legislator Chris Mckimmie said that Niagara County Health Department staff from the Environmental Health division and the Healthy Neighborhoods Program would be present along with the City of Niagara Falls DPW and Code Enforcement staff. “There have already been significant resources deployed to rat mitigation, but clearly the problem remains, and we need to get at the root causes and what can be done,” said Mckimmie.  “I have talked with many residents throughout LaSalle who have different thoughts on this issue so this forum is the time to put everything out there and reach some consensus. A person was left seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle near Highmark Stadium following the Bills game on Sunday. According to Orchard Park Police, the incident occurred at 41 W. Abbott Grove. At approximately 4:49pm, authorities received reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. Witnesses at the scene attempted to prevent the alleged operator, identified as 40-year-old Alfred Santiago, from driving away as the victim remained trapped underneath the vehicle. Santiago chose to flee the scene, maneuvering through traffic and even driving on the grass. The victim sustained extensive upper body injuries and was transported to ECMC ambulance. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time. Santiago was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident without reporting, felony DWI (Driving While Intoxicated), and felony aggravated unlicensed operation due to a previous DWI conviction. He also faces other vehicle and traffic charges. It is anticipated additional charges will be brought against him as the investigation progresses. Early Monday morning in Orleans County one person lost their life in a structure fire. The Orleans County Sheriff's Office reported the incident, which occurred at 1850 Sawyer Road in the Town of Carlton. Emergency crews responded to the scene at around 3:40am to find a house trailer, two sheds, and two vehicles engulfed in flames. The fire claimed the life of an individual who was discovered inside the house. The identity of the victim has not been released. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which is unknown at this time.
