Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol around 4am on July 12th when officers observed a white Chevy Equinox driving westbound on the 1500 block of Pine Avenue with the rear driver side tail light not working.
Upon catching up to the vehicle and activating overhead lights, a traffic stop was attempted at 11th Street and Pierce Avenue.
However, the driver took off and officers were led on a short pursuit.
On the 1100 block of Linwood Avenue, two black males wearing white t-shirts bailed from the vehicle while it was still in motion and tried running into a home. The white Equinox then crashed into another vehicle which caused minor front end damage.
Due to the door being locked at the home both males tried running into, they could not gain entry. Two officers then ran onto the porch and apprehended both men.
The driver then jumped off of the porch and escaped through backyards on foot. Pursuit was unsuccessful. The passenger was placed in custody and required use of force to subdue.
Officers found several pieces of evidence in the vehicle including ID cards for one of the men as well as a cell phone.
Officers searched the area for the suspect who fled with negative results. A towing company responded and took possession of the vehicle.
The suspect in custody was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for injuries sustained while being arrested and then to police headquarters for booking and processing.
No further information is available at this time.
