The Niagara County Youth Bureau and Niagara County Department of Social Services is pleased to announce the 25th Annual Kidz ‘N’ Kites event to take place on Saturday September 16, 2023. This year’s location the event will return to the Town of Niagara Veteran’s Memorial Park (7000 Lockport Rd. Niagara Falls, NY 14305) The event will take place from 11:00am - 2:00pm, with first come, first serve registration beginning at 11:00am. The first 500 youth will receive a free kite, t-shirt and hot-dog lunch. The Great Lakes Kitefliers provide fantastic scenery of flying kites and volunteers are present to help youth fly their own. The event is a great opportunity for parents and youth to work together to fly their free kite. “This event has continued to be a staple on most families fall calendar. Twenty-Five years of celebrating youth and families is exciting.” Youth Bureau Director Ben Bunker states. Becker Farms kicks off its 2023 season with opportunities for local organizations to fundraise and give back to their community. This Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, September 2-4, local community groups can benefit from one of their programs by joining the Becker Farms Booster Weekend. The Aquarium of Niagara will transition to a summer schedule featuring extended operating hours. - Sunday through Thursday, the Aquarium will be open from 9am to 6pm. - On Fridays and Saturdays, the Aquarium will be open from 9am to 7pm. These extended hours will apply through Sunday, September 3, 2023. Guests can also expect an extended schedule of programming featuring penguin, seal, and sea lion presentations, as well as intimate, educator-led species spotlights throughout the day. This new concert series on the Whirlpool Commons area is a free, outdoor music event on the Aquarium’s beautiful welcome plaza, Whirlpool Commons. Judas Tree is an Amici & Amaro Bar; a hidden gem opened by a brother-sister duo Beckah and Josh Carey in Niagara Falls, NY specializing in locally sourced ingredients. There is literally nothing like it that i've ever seen - it's like stepping from Niagara Falls, NY into another world. Upon stepping in, you are greeted by a beautiful atmosphere decorated in thrifted vintage furniture and, most importantly, the kindest most inviting welcome by the staff. Relating to a Mediterranean theme with small plates, we couldn't choose just one selection from the menus because we were entrapped by the unique range of food they had listed. We learned that the most of the recipes are family created/made (the cannolis are hand made and the filling is whipped per order - literally to die for) and all other items from the menu are either home grown or locally sourced. Buffalo Bills season is fast approaching and every time it does, my mind always resorts back to one of my favorite memories. 8 years ago when I was working for Elderwood Residences at Wheatfield Independent Living in Wheatfield NY, I had this crazy idea to have a little fun with the residents there. Now, I use the term "residents" very loosely, because to me they were and will always be a part of my family. It was truly the best job and experience I had ever had. So, how did we have fun? I gathered up all of the Buffalo Bills memorabilia I could find, grabbed my camera, and went to the Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing facilities all located on the same campus in Wheatfield. I danced and laughed and sang with my #1 Buffalo Bills Fans. Originally, we wanted Buffalo Bills Rex Ryan to come visit us, and though that didn't happen, I still think that all of the hard work that went into this video was worth every single second. I'm still holding out for the Buffalo Bills to come and visit the campus for both the few residents that still live there after eight years and the new. Since Pizza Hut left Niagara Falls and all of Western New York in 2020, a prevailing question has been whether the popular franchise would ever return to the Cataract City. So will a Pizza Hut return to Niagara Falls, NY? It's definitely possible since they are already returning all over WNY.
