According to the complainant, while getting her car detailed she had her purse hanging off the back of the chair. She was called away forgetting to bring her purse, at which point the suspect walked over and sat in the same chair. The suspect’s vehicle is brought up to the waiting area and after he starts walking to the door, he circles back, grabs the purse, and exits. Law enforcement was given the license plate number and surveillance footage was being shared as well. The complainant stated her Canadian passport, birth certificate, health card, driver’s license, 7 credit cards and 3 debit cards were inside the purse as well as over $1,000 in cash (both U.S. and Canadian). In the process of beating him up, the complainant felt two stabs in his back and then one of the males brought out a black firearm and began to strike him in the head with it. The males took the complainant’s wallet which contained some cash and several debit/credit cards. Police noted that the complainant was severely intoxicated and that his story changed a few times during questioning. No further information is available at this time.

On Wednesday night, the Niagara Falls City Council reached a decision regarding the proposal to designate landmark status to 'The Turtle', ultimately resulting in its rejection. Following a thorough city council meeting, three members voted against granting historic status to 'The Turtle', while one member voted in favor, and another abstained. A majority of speakers expressed a desire to see 'The Turtle' repurposed into a cultural center or museum. However, during the meeting, the city attorney clarified that granting historic status wouldn't compel the current owner to convert it into such facilities. Instead, it would introduce additional layers of approval from the preservation board for any proposed alterations to the building. The building is owned by Niagara Falls Redevelopment. The company issued a statement on Monday expressing concerns about the potential consequences of landmarking the building. The city attorney stated on Wednesday night that, in his opinion, granting historic status wouldn't eliminate the possibility of the building being demolished in the future. He also indicated that, according to his interpretation of the law, the vote is final and cannot be revisited.

A tourist arrived at Niagara Falls Police headquarters on Tuesday, March 5th, after a reported theft from a vehicle. According to the complainant, he was staying at the Hampton Inn on Rainbow Boulevard and made the mistake of leaving his vehicle unlocked overnight. When he arrived at the vehicle the following morning, he discovered several items missing: a red coach wallet containing $50 cash and several credit cards. The complainant further stated that the theif(s) used the credit cards multiple times each for amounts of $40-45. No other information is available at this time.

According to Niagara Falls Superintendent Mark Laurrie, Niagara Falls High School witnessed two distinct altercations this week. One took place on Tuesday, while the other occurred on Wednesday. Despite being unrelated, both incidents resulted in potential serious injuries to the teachers. In the first incident, a dispute between two boys unfolded within a bathroom stall. A teacher, who was overseeing the lunchroom, intervened to resolve the conflict. Tragically, during the intervention, the teacher accidentally struck her head against the wall. Less than 24 hours later, another separate incident took place in the cafeteria involving a male and female student. This altercation prompted another teacher to intervene and defuse the situation. However, during the intervention, the teacher was inadvertently struck in the head by a stray elbow. As a result of these incidents, one teacher suffered a bruise or possibly a fracture to her orbital bone. Both occurrences are deeply concerning. In response, all students involved will face superintendent suspension. Although both teachers have yet to return to school, they are currently receiving pay while they recover from their injuries.

On Thursday, March 7th, 2024, around 4:22pm, Town of Niagara Police responded to the 3000 block of Rhode Island Avenue after reports of an unresponsive male in a field. Responding officers found a male subject - believed to be in his 50's - deceased in the Town of Niagara field. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of family members. Town of Niagara Police were assisted by the Niagara County Sheriff Department's criminal investigation unit and the Niagara Active Fire Co. An investigation into the death is ongoing.

Everyone knows the story of Annie Taylor who was the first person to survive a trip over Niagara Falls in 1901. She was from Lockport, NY (about 20 miles away from Niagara Falls) and worked as a schoolteacher. What people might not know is that her cat, Lagara, survived the plunge over Niagara Falls in a barrel before she did. Despite being a popular attraction for tourists and daredevils alike, there had yet to be an attempt to actually go over Niagara Falls by 1901. Taylor, who was desperate for fame and fortune, wanted to be the first. She had a custom barrel made specifically for the stunt. It measured four and a half inches high and was stuffed with pillows and a mattress. A small hole with a tube was even included so she would have access to air. This was when Taylor decided to give the barrel a trial run over Niagara Falls with her cat - Lagara - inside. Taylor released the barrel on the Niagara River about a mile before the falls. Taylor watched as it drifted toward the Horseshoe Falls and went over. Lagara survived the plunge! Knowing that the barrel would work, it was Taylor's turn to follow in Lagara's footsteps (or would it be paw prints?). She took the barrel to roughly a mile up river from the falls, got in, and started to drift toward the Horseshoe Falls. About fifteen to twenty minutes later, Taylor plummeted over the edge and fell over 185 feet to the waters below. Shortly afterward Taylor's barrel was taken out of the water by rescuers who were relieved to see she was still alive. Although Taylor was the first person to ever survive going over Niagara Falls, it turns out she was actually the second living creature to survive going over it in a barrel. Niagara Falls Police responded to the 2200 block of Cleveland Avenue on February 28th after a reported burglary. Upon arriving at the home, the complainant stated that a home he was working on remodeling was broken into. In total, the burglar took $300 in tools and $1,100 in flooring from the Niagara Falls home. Police observed the back door kicked off its hinges with damage. The burglary is under further investigation.

At approximately 9:30pm on Sunday, March 3rd, Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1100 block of 19th when they heard shots being fired as they were investigating an unrelated call a few blocks away. Niagara Falls officers arrived within seconds of the reported shooting and found a 31-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his upper body.  The male was immediately placed into a private vehicle by bystanders and driven to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.  The victim was eventually transferred to ECMC where he is currently listed in critical condition.  The investigation is ongoing. Just before 9:30pm on Friday, March 1st, Niagara Falls Police responded to 2403 Cleveland Avenue after a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, Officers located a 37-year-old male suffering from stab wounds to his arm and his neck.  Officers rendered aid to the male until NFFD and AMR arrived.  Officers also located a 37-year-old female at the same address who sustained a stab wound to her leg.  Both victims were transported to ECMC for treatment. The female has been released and the male is listed in stable condition.  At this time no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Niagara Falls Police are asking for public assistance in locating Corinna Joanne Bray who was reported missing on February 21st from her apartment. Bray is described as 5'6" tall and 130 pounds with shoulder-length brown hair and a crown tattoo on her right hand. According to police, Bray has a history of mental health issues and does not walk well due to medical issues.

On February 27, 2027, at approximately 11:30 am, Niagara Falls Police responded to the Courtyard by Marriott at 900 Buffalo Avenue to investigate a one vehicle accident. A 61-year-old woman operating a 2015 Lexus apparently accidentally accelerated through the building and into the swimming pool. Hotel personnel assisted in the removal of the occupants from the vehicle. The driver and her three-year-old passenger were evaluated by AMR and the Niagara Falls Fire Department. They were unharmed and did not require further medical attention. There was significant damage to the building, which was assessed by the City Inspectors.

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 400 block of 22nd Street on Wednesday, February 14th, after reports of harassment. According to the complainant, an unknown person approached the door of her apartment and stuck a sticker along with two #2 pencils to her door. Police did view surveillance footage, but the quality was so poor that no characteristics of the individual could be ascertained. There is no further information at this time.

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 1500 block of Pine Avenue on Thursday, February 22nd, after reports of a burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with he complainant who stated that a female came into his residence through a common hallway and entered the basement without permission. He heard the basement door close so he looked out in the common area and observed the female walking with his power washer leaving the apartment building. The complainant went outside and confronted the woman, at which time she dropped the power washer and attempted to flee. The female was positively identified as the burglar when police arrived. There is nothing further on the Niagara Falls burglary at this time.

On March 11th, 2009, a daring incident occurred at Niagara Falls when a man survived the approximate 180 foot drop. The occurrence was reported by Chief Douglas Kane of the Niagara Parks Police, who claimed it was likely the third such survival in history, with the last recorded case happening roughly six years prior. On February 22, 2024 Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were alerted to a welfare concern at a residence on Randall Road in the Town of Wilson for animal neglect. Initial investigation by Deputies found that the residence was in deplorable condition. Deputies found that the exterior of the residence was in disrepair, littered with trash, animal feces and deceased animals (goats, pigs, cows, and chickens). There were also numerous animals, including, pigs, cows, chicken and geese, living outside the residence. Inside the home was also littered with trash and animals feces. There were multiple animals living in the residence including: five dogs, two cats, shrimp, rats, snakes, and crabs. There were also at least two deceased turtles found inside the residence. The Town of Wilson Building Inspector was called to the scene and the house was condemned. Personnel from the Niagara County SPCA responded for all of the animals. The residents signed over the animals to the SPCA and the SPCA will be investigating the animal portion of the incident. SPCA charges will be pending until after the investigation is completed. There were two adults living in the home with two young children. Niagara County Child Protective Services responded to the scene and the children are in the care of family members. The two adults, both of The Town of Wilson, were arrested for Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts each) and released on appearance tickets.

Parker's Pit, a BBQ establishment, is set to occupy a recently vacated spot near the Niagara Falls International Airport, previously home to the 'Como at the Airport' restaurant. Located at 10158 Niagara Falls Blvd., directly opposite the airport, the restaurant aims to open its doors in March, offering seating for around 110 patrons and incorporating a take-out section where Como once operated its deli. The origins of Parker’s Pit trace back to 2017 when its proprietor, Mark Bruning, began hosting events using a utility trailer. As the pandemic unfolded, he invested in a larger trailer and transformed the connecting space between his house and garage in Middleport into an official kitchen space.

Niagara Falls Police responded to Packard Court on Tuesday, February 20th after a reported theft of services. According to reports, the complainant was driving for a taxi/ride sharing company when he picked up an individual. He drove this individual around to sell clothing he had with him. According to the complainant, he "stole the items," but would not elaborate to police how he knew this. At the end of the fare, the individual stated he had no money but would run into his apartment to grab some. He never left the apartment. The taxi driver chauffeuring the man selling stolen clothes lost a total of $63.

On Wednesday, February 21st, the Niagara Falls Police Department Narcotics Intelligence Division conducted a drug raid at 1881 Linwood Avenue after obtaining a warrant. The Niagara County Drug Task Force, North Tonawanda PD K9, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force (Buffalo) assisted in the Search Warrant. Recovered during the search: 6.5 oz Cocaine; 3.5 grams Fentanyl; 34 white pills; 23 blotters of suspected LSD; $710 cash; a black digital scale. One male was taken into custody on Outstanding Arrest Paperwork for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd (B Felony). Additional criminal charges will be pending following a report from the Niagara County Crime Lab.

Niagara Falls Police responded to Memorial Hospital around 0600 hours on Tuesday, February 20th, after a reported assault. Law enforcement spoke to the victim who stated he was walking down an alley smoking a black and mild when three young males approached him and asked what he was smoking. Moments later, he was struck in the face so hard he fell to the ground. The males, who were all wearing ski masks, proceeded to punch him while he was on the ground. The victim stated that nothing was taken from his person, nor does he know why he could have been targeted. Injuries sustained included a laceration and bruising.

Niagara Falls Police responded to the AutoZone on the 8700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard on Sunday, February 18th, after a customer became belligerent after a failed return. According to police, a male customer was attempting to return steering fluid but refused to show identification and hesitated when asked for his name. After being refused the return, the male became angry. While heading for the door, he yelled, "I'm going to slap the *hit out of you, you white *itch." The male then called the store where another white female answered, saying, "when do you get off you white *itch, I'm outside waiting for you." The male departed before police arrived and an investigation is continuing.
